Russia has started fining for Instagram and WhatsApp on signs, storefronts, and cars.
The country is seeing the first mass cases of fines for displaying nicknames, logos, and links to Instagram* and WhatsApp*. Not only bloggers but also ordinary entrepreneurs are subject to penalties. Any public display of the symbols of banned social networks—on store signs, shop windows, cars, and even in informational materials—serves as grounds for punishment.
