Japan was shaken by the most powerful earthquake in 10 years.
The island of Kyushu was literally jolted. First a magnitude 7.1 quake, then half an hour later another one, 6.1. More than fifty people were injured, tens of thousands of homes lost power, roads and buildings were damaged, and bullet trains came to a halt. Nearly thirty aftershocks have already been recorded, and experts warn that new strong tremors are quite likely.
